Seahorses have long been among the most intriguing creatures of the sea. In recent years, however, less of their habitats and over-harvesting have made them susceptible to decline. For the first time ever, Wyland pays homage to this animal of ancient lore in his delightful mixed media lucite sculpture “Seahorse Sea”. “Seahorses are an artists dream,” Wyland says. “They represent everything that is beautiful and precious about the sea. But every year millions of seahorses are caught and traded or turned into curios. I hope this image will inspire more people to join in the effort to protect them.”
