Currently residing on the Big Island, Hawaii has definitely inspired Garry in his paintings. Most of his recent works have been local flowers and historical buildings around Honolulu. Garry's distinctive watercolor style seems to draw your attention into the depths of his paintings, letting you explore every detail.
From his studio in Mililani, Garry works layer by layer, building his paintings very slowly, sometimes taking 30 to 40 hours to complete an average piece. His exacting realistic style and attention to detail also work well with another interest of his, portraits. Usually working in charcoal or pastel from a photograph, Garry captures the subject's real personality, putting it on paper, holding it there to cherish forever.
In addition to having his working galleries on Maui, Kauai and Oahu, Garry also has his paintings in many private and corporate collections, including Kapiolani Medical Center, Absolut vodka, Hawaii Carpenter's Union, The State Foundation for Culture and Arts, Outrigger Hotels, Ilikai Hotel and GTE Hawaiian Tel. Garry is always available for private showings of his current works.
