The artist Linda Hogan has her studio on Molokai where you can find her creating the"Living Honu Sculptures". Linda majored in art while attending colleges in Kansas and Arizona. Her training in mixed media arts as well as working for an Ocular Prosthetic Dr. was instrumental to perfecting her amazingly realistic Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Reproducing the exact colors for numerous shades of human eyes to match for an artificial eye trained her to really capture the depth and luminosity of the turtles eyes as well as the shells. The sculpture part came as a trial and error process that led to finding a non toxic Eco friendly resin material that can be sculpted and painted. Linda sculpts each one by hand and no two are exactly alike. The arduous process takes upward of 3 months depending on the size which vary from Keiki to Kupuna. Linda's work can be found in several galleries throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
