Born and raised in Northern Michigan, Artist Mindy Sue Werth has been expressing herself through drawing long before she could spell. Translating how she saw the world onto paper was something she did instinctively, selling portrait and commission work from age 14 on. Werth followed what she loved and studied fine art in college, receiving my Bachelor's of Fine Art (concentration in Drawing/Illustration). After graduation Werth drove across the country to Central Oregon, and spent 6 years as a framer and commission artist, working largely in animal portraiture. Since 2015 she's called  "The Big Island of Hawaii" home.  Inspired daily from the abundant beauty of the diverse environment, with it's 11 different climate zones.

"The wonderful thing about illustrating life, you can tell a story simply through the lines, shapes and colors you have created. Animals are particularly wonderful for this because their eyes, posture, and energy are their only form of expression. When done right, there is no need for explanation. I aim to capture the genuine beauty and unique characteristics of my subjects in my work."   Mindy Sue Werth
