Collaboration between Wood Worker Steve Antonellis and Oil Painter George Aldrete
"Crimson Coast" is a "segmented vessel". The piece is created on the wood lathe by turning a stack of wooden rings. Each ring is composed of 16 wood segments regardless of the diameter of the ring. The shape of this vessel is inspired by Grecian urns. The vessel is created from four exotic wood species: Hawaiian Koa, Mango, Bloodwood, and Wenge and Maple. On the inside bottom of the vessel there is an inlay compass star of Hawaiian Koa, Ebony, and Holly.
